Street Heart is a collective of local artists who engage in social practice art.

Since 2014 artists have created colorful portraits of those living on the street to raise awareness and benefit a local nonprofit called Facing Homelessness.

The portrait project is much more than a fundraiser. Artists and subjects are given the option of meeting one another and the beauty and friendship that ensues is beyond measure. For most of the participants the friendship goes beyond the projects duration- this companioning has been an integral part of healing ourselves and our community.

Street Heart 2014-2015

Each year Street Heart hosts three main events in conjunction with the portrait project:

- Family Dinner: artists unveil their portrait to the subject for the first time and we all share a family meal together. It is beyond beautiful!

- Art Auction: each year portraits are auctioned off and the funds directly support Facing Homelessness. Last year we raised 35k!

- Traveling Portrait Show: installation comprises of 20 portraits and is exhibited at various Seattle venues, public spaces and social service agencies.

*Those interested in hosting the traveling show should contact me directly.
